Elementary Schools to Send Your Children to in Middlesex County

We see … an apartment rental in Middlesex County in your near future (or so we hope)! If you have or will have school age children and Middlesex County, New Jersey, is in fact on your radar, the following schools are worth checking out. SchoolDigger.com ranked 1,254 elementary schools in New Jersey for the 2011 to 2012 school year. Here are three of our most loved public schools that made the Top 100.

Warnsdorfer Elementary School

Located at 9 Hardenburg Lane in East Brunswick, Warnsdorfer Elementary School has 455 students and a student teacher ratio of 17 to 1. The minority enrollment of the student body is 45% and the male to female ratio is 53% to 47%. The nearest middle school is Memorial Middle School and the nearest high school is East Brunswick High School.* According to Patch.com, the school integrates technology into its classrooms via SmartBoards, video and more. Its teachers challenge students to master that technology through regular classroom activities.

Fun fact: The school was named after long time East Brunswick resident Henry Warnsdorfer who served on the Board of Education for more than 32 years! In recent news, students were invited to participate in a Read-A-Thon.

According to GreatSchools.org, in 2012:

  • 88% of 3rd graders were proficient in Language Arts, as opposed to the state average of 67%.
  • 96% of 3rd graders were proficient in Math, as opposed to the state average of 78%.

Apartments close to Warnsdorfer Elementary School are our Hadley Woods Apartments. While these apartments are located in North Brunswick, it may be possible to still send your children to this school. Contact the school to be sure. Hadley Woods is located about 10 minutes away.

James Madison Intermediate

This school is located at 838 New Dover Rd. in Edison. 564 students attend JMI, with 84% of them being minorities. The student to teacher ratio is 16 to 1 and the male to female ratio is 54% to 46%.* The nearest middle school is John Adams Middle School and the nearest high school is J.P. Stevens High School — each located less than a mile away.

A fairly recent addition to the school is its PBSIS Program, which stands for Positive Behavior Support in Schools, as noted on the school’s website. The website also noted: The PBSIS team consists of several staff members and a parent who have completed many hours of training provided by the state, to develop incentives and programs at JMI to enhance the school’s already positive school culture. Fun fact: The school’s Robotics team recently competed in a regional tournament in our great state where students built and programed an autonomous robot (as noted on the school’s website).

  • 91% of 3rd graders were proficient in Language Arts, as opposed to the state average of 67%.
  • 97% of 3rd graders were proficient in Math, as opposed to the state average of 78%.

Our apartments near JMI include Greenfield Gardens (Edison) and Evergreen Meadows (Edison). Each apartment community is less than 10 minutes away.

Woodbrook Elementary School

Located at 15 Robin Rd. in Edison, this school is home to more than 900 students – it’s actually the largest elementary school in Edison, according to its website. Despite the student teacher ratio being higher than the above two schools (21 to 1), the students still get the attention they need. Minority enrollment makes up 86% of the student body and the male to female ratio is 53% to 47%.*

Upon graduating, students can look forward to attending the nearest middle school — Woodrow Wilson Middle School, which is just a short walk or drive away. The high school that is closest to this elementary school is Metuchen High School.

Our Village Commons (Edison) and Village Court Apartments (Edison) are very close to this elementary school. Each is complex is approximately five minutes or less away.
