Information for the 2017 QuickChek NJ Festival of Ballooning
The 35th Annual QuickChek Festival of Ballooning will take place at Solberg Airport in Readington Township, Hunterdon County, Friday, July 28 through Sunday, July 30. Since 1982, hundreds of hot air balloons have taken the skies above Readington, making it a popular summer tradition for New Jersey families. If you’re looking to attend, here’s some information that you should know.
Solberg Airport is located just a few miles off Route 202 in Readington. Parking can be found at Solberg Airport for $10. On Saturday or Sunday, a free shuttle will be provided every 20 minutes from Raritan Valley Community College to the airport starting at noon.
For those without a vehicle, Rallybus is offering special bus service from Trenton and Newark for $50 all three days of the festival.
Tickets can be purchased online or at your local QuickChek location. You can still buy tickets the day of the event, but they will cost you $5-10 more.
The hot air balloons will rise at 6:30 p.m. on Friday July 28, and 6:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. on Saturday July 29 and Sunday July 30, weather permitting. According to organizers, they launch at these times because wind speeds are usually at their lowest. If you’re interested, you can purchase a ticket to ride in one of the balloons.
The QuickChek Festival of Ballooning offers music acts for all ages, including both local bands and internationally renowned artists. The Progressive Insurance Main Stage is located on the runway directly across from the balloon launch area. Your general admission ticket will include your entry to the Progressive stage. VIP experiences are also available for an extra fee. Here’s the concert schedule:
Friday, July 28
